Playground
For me, trying new things — building something, even a company — has always been like a playground. Why? Because it lets you break things faster and not be afraid of breaking them. When you create something new, you always break something old. You break the existing status quo. And that is hard, complex, and sometimes scary, especially in business.
When you look at metrics and see that things are not working as expected, you want to try something different, change things, test a hypothesis. But you never really know whether it will work or not. If you take it too seriously, it is easy to get stuck — decisions feel too important, too heavy, and it becomes hard to even start moving. That blocks innovation.
Innovation only happens when you are not afraid to break things. When change is allowed, you can move forward and get results.
That is why I like the idea of a playground. It lets you stay a bit like a child, enjoy what you are doing, experiment, and stay curious. I still like to explore how things work, build something small, test it, maybe improve it. Even though I work with large systems, many processes, and complex things, I still want that space where I can relax, create, and have fun.
It helps to avoid getting stuck in routine. It helps to keep moving and growing.
